DeWalt 20V MAX 2x20V 21.5-Inch Mower - Review and Compare Video Frame DetailVideo Frame DetailVideo Frame Detail

DeWalt tried something interesting here by using two 20V MAX batteries to power a mower. For die-hard DeWalt fans who already own a garage full of 20V tools, the appeal is obvious. Unfortunately, the execution doesn't fully deliver on the promise.

The mower cuts fine in well-maintained grass. Flat, regularly mowed lawns won't give it any trouble. But push it into taller or thicker sections and it starts to struggle. The dual 20V system, while clever from a battery compatibility standpoint, simply doesn't produce the same sustained power as purpose-built 56V or 60V mower platforms.

The build quality is what you'd expect from DeWalt. It has solid, no-nonsense construction that feels like it can take a beating. The 21.5-inch deck is slightly wider than standard, which is a nice touch for reducing the number of passes needed.

Things to Consider: This mower works best when used regularly on a smaller lawn. If mowing gets delayed and the grass gets ahead of you, it shows its limitations quickly. The 20V MAX battery compatibility is the main selling point, but that advantage only matters if you're already invested in DeWalt's ecosystem. As a standalone purchase, there are better options at a similar price.
