Three years in and this mower still starts on the first press, every single time. That alone makes it worth talking about. The EGO 56V has essentially become the default recommendation in the cordless mower space, and after watching it hold up season after season, it's not hard to see why.

The plastic deck was a concern early on, as most people hear "plastic" and immediately think cheap. But after three full seasons of running over sticks and branches, the deck shows nothing more than a few cosmetic scuffs. No cracks, no structural issues. The blade motor and drive motor both still work like they did on day one, which is more than what some gas mowers can claim after a single year.

Where the EGO really shines is in the sheer lack of maintenance. No oil changes, no spark plugs, no fighting with a pull cord on a cold morning. Sharpening the blades once a season is about all it asks for. Mulching and bagging performance are both excellent, though side discharge tends to clog up in taller grass, which is something to keep in mind if you let the lawn get away from you.

Things to Consider: Battery life is solid but not infinite. The included 7.5Ah battery handles most average-sized yards, but if you have a larger property, budget for a second battery. EGO's customer service has been responsive when battery issues come up, often sending replacements within a week. At around $600 with the battery kit, it's not an impulse buy, but for the money, the reliability and zero-maintenance lifestyle make a compelling case.
