The Kobalt mower is a Lowe's exclusive, which means it lives or dies by whether your nearest hardware store happens to be a Lowe's rather than a Home Depot. That retail exclusivity is both its advantage and its limitation. While it's easy to find in-store at Lowe's, it's virtually impossible to find anywhere else.

Performance-wise, the 40V system delivers reliably solid results. The mower handles regular weekly cuts without issue, and the battery provides enough runtime for most quarter-acre lots. At the $300 price point (plus $80 for a spare battery), it's positioned as a value play against the Ryobi and Worx alternatives.

Long-term durability has been encouraging. After two years of regular use, nothing has broken down or needed replacement. The batteries still hold a charge well, and the motor shows no signs of degradation. That kind of consistency over time says a lot about the underlying build quality.

Things to Consider: The Kobalt ecosystem is limited to what Lowe's carries, which restricts future tool expansion options. If you're building a comprehensive cordless tool collection, platforms with wider availability, Ryobi at Home Depot, DeWalt or Milwaukee at multiple retailers, offer more flexibility. But if Lowe's is your store and value is your priority, the Kobalt is a perfectly sensible choice.
