Makita does something different here. Instead of designing a proprietary high-voltage battery, they use two standard 18V batteries running in series to create a 36V system. For anyone already deep into Makita's professional tool ecosystem, this is a huge deal because there are no new batteries to buy.

The build quality immediately distinguishes itself from consumer-grade mowers. Where most cordless mowers feel like they're aimed at suburban homeowners, the Makita has the kind of fit and finish you'd expect from a tool designed for landscape professionals. The single-point height adjustment is clean and precise, and the cutting deck feels substantial without being excessively heavy.

On a full charge with two 5Ah batteries, expect around 45-50 minutes of mowing time. This is enough for a moderate-sized yard, but noticeably shorter than competitors with larger dedicated batteries. The cut quality, however, is excellent. Consistent, even, and clean across varying grass types.

Things to Consider: The 36V system works, but it does give up some raw power compared to 56V and 80V platforms. Dense, tall grass will slow it down more quickly. The real question is whether the battery compatibility advantage outweighs the voltage gap. For tradespeople who already own a dozen Makita tools and chargers, the answer is almost always yes.
